KEY CHANGES

KEY CHANGES WHAT TO KNOW

INCREASED ZEV REQUIREMENTS

Beginning in 2025, the CARB ACT mandate requires a significant increase in Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) sales ratios. Specifically, 7% of new Class 8 tractor sales 11% of Class 6-8 rigid sales must be ZEVs. These percentages will continue to increase annually through 2025.

IMPACT ON INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE SALES

The availability of Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) will be restricted as OEMs must now balance ICE sales with ZEV credits. For every ICE-powered vehicle, specific BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) sales must offset it. This will result in limited availability.

CARB HD OMNIBUS REGULATIONS

Massachusets and Oregon will implement stricter regulations, limiting internal combustion engine sales. Planning ahead is essential.

PLANNING FOR EXTENDED LEAD TIMES

Due to supply chain constraints, ZEV lead times are expected to be longer. Early planning for your 2025 chassis purchases is crucial.
